About the Church:

Size: The Bowie Church of Christ is a congregation with a pre-COVID attendance averaging about 80 people per week. Once we started meeting after the COVID surge, there were 30 in attendance at the building, with several members watching the streaming service online. Now, in September 2023, there are about 60 people per week, and the trend is growing!

Outreach Activity: The summer of 2023, we had a community outreach “bring-your-neighbor” day with 20 visitors! We also just participated in a Bowie Community “back-to-school” event where we gave out backpacks and collected contact information for about 40 people. In October, we will have a community clothing giveaway at the church building. Monthly, we actively participate in the community food bank and have a monthly devotional at a local nursing home. We want the people of Bowie to know we are here and that we care for our community in the name of Christ.

Ministries: Aside from weekly worship, we have an adult Sunday School Class and children’s Sunday School classes began in September 2023). We also have a small Youth/Teen class, a monthly nursing home ministry, a prison ministry, and an active small group ministry. We are blessed to have several song leaders and several men who can preach and teach, who have been filling in during our search for a full-time minister. In addition, members are involved in hospitality, maintaining the church building, grounds, and parsonage, and helping with administrative tasks.

Biblical Teaching and Beliefs: Check out our “What We Believe” page for basic beliefs. In practice, we strive to be biblically sound on essentials. Christian men and women participate in the public worship service and serve as Ministry Leaders. All that we do and believe must have its foundation in the appropriate use of the Bible as the authoritative and inerrant word of God.
